Enterprise Infrastructure Planning

Paul Johnston, EDS Inland Revenue Division

As the hardware infrastructure of enterprise computer systems has changed over time, larger processors - increased disc capacity, so have opportunities increased to rationalise your company's computer estate and reduce running costs. These opportunities include merging systems, relocating systems from one physical site to another and centralising the operational and technical support functions of your organisation. This presentation will explore the steps necessary to achieve this exploitation of your infrastructure. The presentation will describe the reasons for rationalisation, the risks and constraints associated with such actions and describe some theoretical and actual scenarios.
