AXiS 99 Conference

Synopsis

EMC Performance on VME

John Popplewell   Systems Architect, ICL High Performance Systems

This session will start with a general background to EMC storage systems when attached to a VME system and then go on to discuss the three, sometimes conflicting, requirements that must be consider when configuring an EMC disc subsystem namely:
* Capacity

* Connectivity

* Performance

This session will not cover all EMC facilities, but SRDF and BCV's will be covered at an introductory level and some important lessons relating to the use of these facilities on VME will be discussed.

The session will conclude with a series of Q&A's that hopefully will cover the more common issues.

John invites comments and queries from the audience, especially those with EMC experience who would like to share their experiences with others.
