John Ivinson graduated from the University of Keele in 1967 where he read Geography and American Studies.
He is Vice-President of the Professional and Public Affairs Board of the British Computer Society and Spokesperson on the Millennium Date Change Issue. He is the Chairman of the Society's Year 2000 Working Party, which has produced the four BCS Guides on the subject.
He is actively involved with Action 2000 and has acted as technical consultant to them for over 2 years. He has also been joint Director of the hugely successful Bug Buster Scheme.
He has been appointed as Specialist Adviser to the House of Commons Select Committee on Science and technology.
