Year 2000 Focus Group

 Report of the 16th meeting held at ICL, West Gorton on 29th June 1999

Briefly, the meeting took another look at Business Continuity Planning with a presentation from Janet Pavelin, ICL, which followed on from her contribution to the 14th meeting in November 1998. This time we had the benefit of practical experience within ICL to reinforce some of the advice being offered.

It was a good opportunity to take another look at legal issues and the meeting had the benefit of an informal presentation from James Cook, from the Manchester-based Solicitors, Cobbetts.

None of these meetings is complete without an ICL update from Peter Iles. TB023 is not quite ready yet but keep an eye on the ICL web site http://www.icl.com where the latest version of TB023 will be posted shortly. On this occasion there was very little to update but Peter took the opportunity to add a little more information on Date2Date fro VME.

The usual review of user experience took place followed by another look at whether there was sufficient interest to justify another meeting. It is beginning to look at though AXiS members are well ahead with their compliance programme and may therefore feel no further need for these meetings which have proved very beneficial for many organsiations and companies.

There will be at least two Year 2000 sessions at the AXiS Conference at Keele University (on Wed 6th October 1999). This meeting proposed that it would be useful to arrange a Birds of a Feather sesssion at the end of that day to discuss what lessons have been learned from our various Year 2000 programmes and to waht extent this exeprience could inform potential EMU/Euro programmes.
